Rare Clear Day Over the Kamchatka Peninsula

Rare Clear Day Over the Kamchatka Peninsula

Usually shrouded in clouds and buffeted by cold Siberian winds, Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula is enjoying a sunny day as seen by the Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS instrument. This image, taken around 0220Z on April 16, 2014, shows clearly the debris field created by the Peninsula's most active volcano, Karymsky.
